How to make a cowboy costume
The cowboy (or cowgirl) is the costume that looks good on everyone and is half in your closet already: denim, boots and a hat. Add a bandana and a little swagger and it reads from across the room.
What you need
- A cowboy hat
- A denim or plaid shirt
- Jeans and a big belt buckle
- Boots (any with a heel)
- A red bandana for the neck
- Brown eyeshadow for freckles
How to put it together
- Dot a few freckles across the nose with brown shadow.
- Shirt tucked into the jeans, the buckle front and centre.
- Bandana knotted at the neck, boots on, hat tipped back.
From things you already own
Jeans, any checked shirt, boots and a bandana. The hat is the only thing most people need to find.
No makeup?
Skip the freckles: the hat, the bandana and the boots carry it on their own.
For a group or a couple
A whole ranch: everyone in denim with a different colour bandana, or a cowboy and a cowgirl as a couple.
